Nathaniel Eckland, Ph.D.
Dr. Nathaniel (Nate) Eckland is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in adolescents and adults. He uses evidence-based interventions to help clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress related to life events and/or health challenges. Dr. Eckland earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed his doctoral internship at the University of
Wisconsin. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Eckland has a collaborative, goal-driven approach and supports his clients in
envisioning and working towards a fulfilling life. He primarily uses interventions rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral therapy but draws on interventions and philosophy from acceptance-based approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions. Though his expertise is in treating mood and anxiety disorders, his training also included a secondary focus in health psychology (interventions for improving sleep, managing physical pain, and coping with illness). Dr. Eckland also has an interest in neurodiversity and autism (helping clients navigate diagnoses, process and identify difficult emotions, and cope with mood or anxiety symptoms).
